From Sherri: Mark’s newest book is a departure from his bestselling Blackman and Buryin’ Barry series. A Federal Reserve executive dies while under the protection of former Secret Service agent Russell “Rusty” Mullins. As Rusty investigates (with the help of a former colleague and a dogged reporter), mysterious financial shenanigans, kidnapping, and even a murder point the finger at Mullins himself. Who or what is out to frame Rusty and destroy the US financial system? Why? Mark’s fast-paced plot and “don’t trust anyone” mantra should have David Baldacci and Vince Flynn looking over their shoulders. A great thriller for the summer and beyond; I hope Mark gets to write more!
From Sherri: North Carolinian Turnage has written a true gem of a story. Mo LoBeau washed ashore eleven years earlier in small town Tupelo Landing, NC and makes her home with the Colonel, the café owner with an unknown past of his own, and Miss Lana, the café’s hostess. Everyone in the town knows everyone’s business; when a lawman arrives in town asking about a murder, Mo and her best friend Dale Earnhardt Johnson III must find out the truth in order to save the only family and home Mo has ever known. Mo is a great heroine full of spunk and sass with a heart of gold. If Billie Letts ever wanted to write a middle grade book, it would be this one.
From Sherri: Everyone here loves this book. Who doesn’t love tacos? Every time one of us talks about or reads this book, we crave tacos. Dragons love parties and dragons love tacos. They REALLY love taco parties so get the fixings ready and invite a few over. But remember, dragons don’t like spicy toppings so make sure you hide the spicy salsa…or else. I’m not sure who is having more fun with this book, the kids or the adults!
